Northside Common Ministries (NCM) is a non-profit community-based organization that was established in 1982 by a collaboration of 30 member churches to care for the needs of the homeless and the hungry who were so evident in poor urban communities in Pittsburgh during that time.
Since its founding, NCM has operated Pleasant Valley Shelter a 24/7 week emergency shelter for homeless men, and the Community Food Pantry. Pleasant Valley has the capacity to serve 25 men and has the highest occupancy rate of any shelter in the area.
The Community Food Pantry is the largest in Pittsburgh - Pennsylvania, distributing on average 300,000 meals yearly to qualified low-income individuals and families.
